About UPSTART online

UPSTART began life as ‘95%’ – a magazine delivered by UK Youth, exploring youth arts activity across the country.

In 2003 Artswork took over the running of ‘95%’, and relaunched the magazine as ‘Upstart – 100% youth arts’.

  • Informing, inspiring, including – Upstart is the independent voice for the growing youth arts sector throughout the UK
  • Policy, provision, practice – Upstart offers an essential guide to developments and a unique slant on the issues that matter
  • Views, reviews, interviews – Upstart, published monthly, features news and information from the UK and beyond

Upstart became UPSTART Online with the launch of the ENYAN website, offering a bigger and better service to subscribers.

UPSTART and ENYAN

After over three years as a published magazine, due to popular demand in June 2006 UPSTART moved online as part of the ENYAN website.

Whilst demand still exists for the information and services UPSTART so successfully provided to the youth arts sector, the paper format had decreased in popularity. Joining forces with ENYAN enabled UPSTART to give members an enhanced voice and increased ability to keep up to date on current developments, moving from a quarterly to monthly publication.

What UPSTART offers

Via the partnership with the ENYAN website UPSTART is able to offer Full (paid) members access to news, jobs informed reviews, interviews, and cutting edge articles as well as offering everyone expanded opportunities to debate, discuss and discover what’s going on across the country, events, training, publications, develop new networks and find the resources and support they need.

Alongside the benefits of the ENYAN website, UPSTART online now offers each month:

  • Vital Signs: a round up of policy, news and events affecting the sector
  • National News: key information about national initiatives from major organisations and networks within and affecting the youth arts sector
  • Youth Arts At Large: Insights into innovative projects and programmes and interviews/profiles of key and influencial players
  • Regional Spotlight: Focusing in on regional organisations and projects, offering valuable insights and case studies to enthuse and inspire
  • Fully Functioning: Practical and pragmatic information on organisational structures and other subjects to strengthen the sector
