Social & Ethical policy
Details of our social and ethical policy.

Artswork is a socially responsible organisation committed to supporting, seeking out and using ethical goods and services throughout the work of the organisation, including ENYAN. As such ENYAN actively seeks to be socially and ethically concious in every area, and encourages partners, associates and members to do the same.
“Socially responsible” and “ethical” for ENYAN means goods and services that:
- Support fair trade practices
- Actively demonstrate care for the environment
- Avoid practices that cause long-term damage for short-term gain
- Operate non-exploitative employment practices
- Challenge all forms of discrimination
- Act in a socially responsible manner
- Support the development of social enterprise and ethical business
Artswork and ENYAN are committed to energy and resource efficiency within every aspect of business and project operations.
Why Artswork and ENYAN strive towards being socially and ethically responsible
As a youth arts development agency Artswork has social inclusion at its heart. This policy enables us to not only become more responsible human beings, but to ensure our aims and objectives are delivered throughout every aspect of our working practice.
Protecting the environment for future generations is one of the ways we can all make a difference in the lives of young people.
Choosing socially and ethically responsible goods and services allows us to help make a difference in the lives of other vulnerable young people working in un-fair and in-humane trade practices across the world.
It also enables us to become more financially responsible, by helping us increase cost-effectiveness through re-cyling and other means.
Some ways that Artswork and ENYAN do this:
- Our Youth Arts Learning Passport has been printed on re-cycled paper, using environmentally friendly inks
- Our ENYAN pencils have been produced by Remarkable, and are made from re-cycled plastic cups
- Our ENYAN launch bags are natural and eco-friendly, from Jutexpo
- We included free fairly traded tea and coffee samples, and information on fair trade in our launch bags
- We use fairly traded tea and coffee in the office
- Our office water cooler is from Aquaid UK
- Our finances are looked after by socially and ethically responsible bankers
- Our pension is with a socially and ethically responsible company
- We re-cycle paper and print using scrap paper as much as possible
- We re-cycle our print cartridges
- We aim to ensure our training and are events are as inclusive and accessible as possible
- We have developed bursary rates for training, and staggered rates for ENYAN membership to increase accessibility to our services
- We have developed and adhere to strong equal opportunities policies and action plans, including the areas of disability and inclusivity
There are many more ways in which we can develop. The above are a small, but important start.
